Since the school was transferred to JinHae, "Loyalty, Bravery, Diligence, Frugality" and "Air Force Academy 10 commandments" were used as the school motto.
On March 1, 1954, President Seung Man, Lee has handed down his holograph of "MooYong", and it became the school motto since.
On April 11 1966, President Jung Hee, Park handed down "Knowledge, Moral, Bravery" as a new school motto, in celebration for the 10th anniversary of the 4 term Cadets enrollment.
Since then, there have been debates regarding the motto, and on February 10 1970, in accordance with the new government policy of Exclusive Korean for Motto, it was changed to "Learn and train to devote for the nation and the sky"
The phrase "Learn and Practice Sometimes", from the well known Analects of Confucius, the "Learning" part of the phrase has various meanings more than simply learning as we know. It means that the truth and ultimate courage can be acquired through learing.
According to Zhu Zi, "Learning" has a meaning of learning and sharing of knowledge. People are born to be good, and in order for us to realize that fact, we must follow the virtuous ancestors to learn from them. That is the reason why a virtue is equivalent to learning. From the truth, we learn to lead our followers without confusion, and in a crisis situation, we learn to be calm and brave.
"Sacrificing Oneself to Preserve One's Integrity " represents this phrase. If "A Grown-up Person" is replaced with "Patriotism", it means sacrifice oneself to preserve one's nation and the sky.
From the teachings, we learn knowledge and virtue in order to be a better soldier, therefore we can be beneficiary for the nation, and in the case of crisis, we can even sacrifice our lives for the nation. We are teaching and practicing the Air Force 10 Commandments to let the cadets act as a Sungmoo person.
