Ceremony of graduation & commission

Every year in March, we have a ceremony of graduation and commission. It is the last day for cadets who have finished the four-year course at the Academy. They have studied and adapted"Knowledge", "Virtue", and "Strength" under a motto of learning, studying, and sacrificing their body and mind for the nation and the sky. It is a glorious event for the newly commissioned officers who will be safeguards for the nation. The President of the Republic of Korea, the Minister of National Defense, each Chief of the General Staff & Superintendents, military officers from various nations, and other VIPs attend the ceremony of graduation & commission. It is the most grand ceremony in the Korea Air Force Academy.

Graduation Ceremony

An event of graduation is divided into two parts. The first part of the event is to award diplomas. After the President's prize and other prizes are awarded to the deserving cadets, the commission certificates are awarded to the whole graduate class and the oath of commission is taken by the graduate cadets. F-5, F-4, and F-16 fighters' air parade and Air Force Black Eagle Team's air show celebrate the commission.

The second part of the event is to award the badges of rank. During the event of graduation, the most impressive view is that parents put badges of rank personally to their sons or daughters. Then, younger cadets make a diamond formation which is a symbol of second lieutenant.And they present "Goldenrings", which are a symbol of officers of the Korean Air Force Academy, to the graduating cadets. Every year at the event of graduation, cadets graduate with younger cadets' blessing and keep their recollection of the ceremony in their mind.

Other Graduation Celebration Events

There is a testimonial dinner party, a farewell party and religious events for the graduation besides a party held in cerebration of graduation. The party held in cerebration of graduation is a congratulatary event of graduation & commission in charge of the Chief of Air Force Staff. A testimonial dinner party of graduation invites a superintendent, Air Force Academy commander, staff officer, professors, teachers in charge of moral training, military training instructors, and cultural education instructors. At that party, cadets express gratitude to their teachers and promote affections between teacher and student. A farewell party of graduation is that younger cadets' farewell speech and graduate cadets' address in reply come and go, and graduate cadets have time to encourage younger cadets. Also, there are congratulation events prepared by the Christian church, Catholic church, and Buddhist temple located at the Academy.
